Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Newcastle are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pick-up. In cases of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle in Newcastle, you must be at least 21 years of age, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for a minimum duration as outlined in your Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are necessary, along with valid payment details and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Newcastle office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may attract additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All car rentals in Newcastle include basic third-party insurance. Detailed information regarding coverage and excess amounts will be outlined in your Rental Agreement. There may be additional insurance options available to limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to examine these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance provisions.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or engaging in dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. It should only be used for its intended purpose, and passenger and weight limits must be adhered to. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Newcastle is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.
9. Applicable Law in Newcastle
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
